No fewer than 20 individuals have been arrested in connection with the hacking of the 2025 Computer-Based Test (CBT) organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The arrest, which took place in Abuja, was carried out by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force.
According to sources, the suspects belong to a syndicate allegedly made up of over 100 members, notorious for breaching the computer servers of major examination bodies, including JAMB and the National Examinations Council (NECO).
“They have been on our radar for a while. This syndicate specialises in compromising high-stake national examinations by hacking into secure servers,” a security operative familiar with the investigation disclosed.
As of press time, efforts to reach JAMB officials for further comments were unsuccessful. However, security agencies say investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the ring.
