2027: IN RIVERS, PRESIDENT TINUBU CAN SLEEP WITH TWO EYES CLOSED. –  WIKE

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can rest easy in Rivers State as he awaits the results of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during a “thank you” visit to Port Harcourt City Local Government Area on Saturday, Wike emphasized that neither he nor his supporters would be pushed aside or distracted from backing Tinubu’s reelection bid in the state.

“These are the foot soldiers of the Renewed Hope Family. If there is one state where the President can go home and sleep with both eyes closed, it is Rivers State,” Wike declared.

Addressing supporters of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike recalled how the people of Rivers State stood firmly with him and delivered votes for Tinubu in 2023, against all odds.

“Back in 2023, we led the struggle here. We were part of the Renewed Hope Agenda from the very beginning when we made the conscious decision to support Tinubu.

“Now, those who were not there then—who backed Atiku Abubakar and failed to deliver even 10 percent of votes—suddenly want to lead the Renewed Hope Agenda. Is that possible?

“You were not there from the start. You didn’t go to buy the pepper, the salt, or the oil. You didn’t participate in any of the groundwork. Suddenly, the food is ready, and you want to eat first. That will not happen. Nobody in this state can push us out,” he added.

Noting the presence of detractors, the Minister urged supporters to remain united, stay fearless, and focus on ensuring Tinubu’s reelection. He explained that the visit was also meant to thank the people for their 2023 support and to encourage them to continue working together, assuring that 2026 would surpass 2025 in progress and development.

Earlier, Mayor of Port Harcourt, Sir Allwell Ihunda, praised Tinubu for ensuring democratically elected council chairmen in the state. Ihunda also lauded Wike’s eight-year tenure as governor, highlighting numerous life-changing projects that improved the well-being of the people.

“We are ready for your directives for 2027. Once the directive comes, we will take action immediately,” he said.

Mrs. Blessing Amadi, representing Port Harcourt II Federal Constituency, commended Wike for promoting women to leadership roles, including making women vice chairmen in all local government areas of the state.

“This is the only state in the country that has given women such recognition. We applaud you for this,” she said.

Mr. Smart Adoki, representing Port Harcourt II in the State Assembly, also thanked Wike for taking the bold step to support Tinubu in 2023, noting that the people of Rivers were now enjoying the benefits. Adoki pledged continued loyalty to Wike, citing his enduring commitment to the welfare of the people.
