ARAROMI-OBU, Odigbo LGA – Dr. Abiona O. Samuel, chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Abiona Platform, a renowned medical doctor and community leader, and also Director of Community Health Services and Education at the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, will lay his beloved mother to rest this weekend in Araromi-Obu, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The two-day funeral program is set to begin on Friday, September 12, 2025, with a Christian wake-keeping at the family residence. Family, friends, and well-wishers will have the opportunity to pay their final respects. The funeral will conclude on Saturday, September 13, 2025, with a final burial and thanksgiving service at Deeper Life Bible Church, Araromi-Obu, followed by her interment.
In a statement released earlier today, officials of Abiona Platform and members of Abiona Boys expressed solidarity with their BoT chairman. “We stand firmly by our BoT Chair at this time, and members of our platform are preparing to converge on Araromi-Obu to honour his mother’s life,” the spokesperson said.
He described the late deceased as “a God-fearing woman, loving mother, and a source of inspiration to all who crossed her path.” The late mother of Dr. Abiona was widely known for her unwavering faith, generosity, and dedication to her family and community. Many residents fondly recalled her active role in local initiatives and the lasting influence she had in shaping the lives of young people in Araromi-Obu.
Preparations for the funeral are ongoing, with dignitaries, traditional rulers, and notable personalities expected to attend from within and beyond the state. The ceremony promises to be not only a farewell but also a heartfelt celebration of a life well-lived, reflecting the values, love, and legacy she leaves behind.
