The Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital (ABUAD MSH) in Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria, has received a significant award, acknowledging its exceptional achievements in medical infrastructure and patient-focused healthcare. Founded in 2017 by Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, a prominent figure in law, ABUAD MSH was created to address the issue of medical tourism in Nigeria. The hospital, with a capacity of 400 beds, is equipped with advanced technology. This includes several modular operating rooms, sophisticated diagnostic tools like MRI and CT scanners, and a fully automated pneumatic tube system designed for the effective transportation of samples and medications.
In recent times, the hospital has celebrated notable medical successes. Specifically, it has successfully performed 14 kidney transplants, commencing with its first in October 2021, and the most recent four between September 15th and 17th, 2023. Moreover, the hospital has carried out numerous open-heart surgeries, utilizing modern laparoscopic equipment to facilitate minimally invasive procedures.
ABUAD MSH’s dedication to excellence reaches beyond its clinical services. The hospital has established collaborations with international organizations, such as Aster DM Healthcare of Dubai, which provided telemedicine equipment to support remote consultations and diagnostics. Moreover, the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria has approved the hospital for postgraduate medical education in Family Medicine, acknowledging its exceptional facilities and training programs.
