Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has assured residents of their safety despite rising banditry attacks in neighbouring states, praising security agencies for their proactive measures to protect the state.
The governor, in a statement on Friday, lauded the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the State Security Service (DSS), the Army Commander, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security operatives for their vigilance and timely interventions.
According to Adeleke, several security meetings have been held over the past three weeks to prevent bandits from infiltrating the state, with support from the Inspector General of Police, the DSS Director-General, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the NSCDC Commandant General.
“Security deployment is ongoing in strategic areas across the state. The intelligence community has a full overview of security threats. We commend the DSS for arrests of high-profile terrorists and dismantling of their cells in Osun. Our security agencies are on top of the situation. The people should not panic,” he said.
The governor urged residents to report suspicious activities and work closely with local vigilantes, hunter groups, and the Amotekun security network. He directed Amotekun to coordinate fully with police and other security agencies to strengthen protection of communities.
On governance, Adeleke reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends in education, health, infrastructure, ICT, agriculture, cooperative empowerment, sports development, water supply, and public safety.
Addressing pending local government and judiciary issues, he urged residents to remain law-abiding, assuring that the executive arm would not interfere with judicial processes.

“I appreciate the deep support from Osun people. Your prayers and encouragement strengthen our resolve. We remain committed to delivering good governance and improving the welfare of our citizens,” he said.
