In a bold move to strengthen security operations in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Wednesday handed over 50 brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicles to various security agencies, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.

The official presentation, held at the Government House in Akure, was part of events commemorating the governor’s first 100 days in office. It comes barely a year after a similar distribution of 25 patrol vehicles to bolster law enforcement logistics in July 2024.

Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the gesture underscored the administration’s dedication to tackling insecurity head-on. “This is a clear demonstration of our resolve to enhance the capacity of security formations to swiftly respond to threats and maintain law and order across the state,” he said.

He stressed the importance of inter-agency synergy, calling for sustained collaboration among security stakeholders. The governor noted that security is a cardinal pillar in his administration’s development agenda, encapsulated in the OUR EASE blueprint.
“These vehicles are more than just equipment; they are a token of appreciation for the sacrifices made by our security personnel,” Aiyedatiwa said, charging beneficiaries to put them to effective use for patrols, surveillance, and rapid response operations.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, in his remarks, emphasized that the Aiyedatiwa-led government regards security as a top priority. He noted that within 100 days, the administration had commissioned several impactful projects, with the latest vehicle distribution serving as another testament to its people-focused governance.
Military and paramilitary leaders in the state also lauded the intervention. Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, who spoke on behalf of other service heads, assured that the vehicles would be used judiciously.

Amotekun Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, expressed similar sentiments, saying the operational vans would address long-standing mobility challenges and improve efficiency in the field.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, described the donation as “a landmark stride” in boosting grassroots security, especially in underserved areas where poor mobility has hampered law enforcement.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olusola—represented by Deputy Commissioner Oluseyi Okenla—thanked the governor, saying the move reaffirms the state government’s unwavering support for security agencies.
Among dignitaries at the handover event were the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip; members of the Ondo State House of Assembly; State Executive Council members; traditional rulers; and heads of security formations.
