
The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has inaugurated a 16-member planning committee for activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state and the first anniversary of his administration.
Both celebrations are scheduled to hold in February 2026.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the committee will be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, while the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Matters, Pastor Adeyemi Adeyemo, will serve as secretary.
Other members of the committee include Hon Omowunmi Isaac; the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Kayode Ajulo (SAN, OON); Prince Segun Omojuwa; Mr Bayo Philip; Mr Idowu Ajanaku; Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan; Mr Kenneth Stevenson-Odusola; Mr Muyiwa Ogunyemi; Mr Summy Smart Francis; Engr Razak Obe; Engr Femi Akarakiri; Hon Omowunmi Ohwovoriole; Hon Afolabi Adesoji; and Chief Gbenga Atiba.
The statement noted that the committee is expected to set up sub-committees to handle various aspects of planning and execution of the anniversary programmes.
Governor Aiyedatiwa charged members of the committee to put in their best efforts to organise befitting celebrations that would reflect the achievements of the state over the past five decades and the vision of his administration.

The governor emphasised that the twin anniversaries present an opportunity to showcase Ondo State’s history, development milestones and future prospects to both residents and the wider public.
