BAUCHI STATE DISTRIBUTES FREE DELIVERY KITS TO PREGNANT WOMEN MONTHLY

In a bid to promote safe childbirth, the Kofar Ran Primary Healthcare Centre in Bauchi State now provides free delivery kits to pregnant women on a monthly basis.

Hauwa Adamu, the officer in charge of the facility, told reporters on Wednesday that about 250 expectant mothers benefit from the initiative every month under the IMPACT Project. The project aims to ensure safe deliveries and reduce maternal and neonatal risks.

The delivery kits include essential items such as mama pads, nightgowns, bleach, umbilical cord clamps, and hand gloves, among others. “We ensure that every woman who delivers at the facility receives a complete delivery pack,” Ms. Adamu said.

She added that following the facility’s merger with the State Specialist Hospital, the number of monthly deliveries has risen to about 350. Meanwhile, the antenatal clinic continues to record high attendance, with 80 to 90 new registrations daily.

Two beneficiaries, Fatima Shehu and Khadija Bappah, confirmed receiving the kits, describing the initiative as timely and helpful.

The scheme underscores Bauchi State’s commitment to maternal and child health, aligning with broader efforts to improve safe motherhood across Nigeria.
