……… calls for collective responsibility, stresses that healthcare delivery is a shared task between government and citizens
In a strong show of commitment to community development and improved public health, Comrade Bola Taiwo has donated a wide range of medical equipment, office materials, and surgical instruments to the General Hospital, Araromi-Obu, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, to support government efforts in strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring that quality services are both affordable and accessible.
The donation, which took place yesterday, featured vital items including a 6.5KVA generator, hospital beds, mattresses, a Lenovo laptop computer, an HP printer, a hydraulic operating table, a delivery couch, an ultrasound machine with printer, sphygmomanometers (blood pressure monitors), an oxygen cylinder with apparatus, infusion stands, and a surgical theatre light.
Also included were a wide range of surgical instruments such as artery forceps, intestinal forceps, Doyen retractors, needle holders, blade holders, dissecting forceps, myomectomy screws, malleables, and Kocher’s forceps in various sizes — totaling 38 categories of medical and office equipment.
Speaking at the event, Bola Taiwo described the gesture as his way of giving back to the community and complementing government efforts to make quality healthcare accessible to all.
“This is not just about donating equipment, but about investing in the health and well-being of our people. By equipping the hospital with these resources, we are working towards building a healthier community where no one is denied care due to lack of facilities or infrastructure,” he said.
Represented by his personal assistant, Mr. Akinpelumi Bodunrin, explained that the generator would serve as a reliable backup during power outages, the laptop and printer would enhance hospital record-keeping and administration, while the provision of hospital beds and mattresses would improve patient comfort.
Receiving the items, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Owolabi Olakunle, expressed deep appreciation to Comrade Taiwo, describing the donation as “timely, thoughtful, and highly impactful.”
“We are truly grateful for this intervention. These materials will go a long way in improving the quality of care we render to patients every day. The challenge of inadequate equipment has been a major setback for us, but this support will surely make our work easier and more effective,” he said.
Also speaking, a community leader and former Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Hon. Ikumawoyi Babatunde, commended Taiwo for his magnanimity and consistent commitment to the welfare of the people of Araromi-Obu.
“This is a practical example of true leadership and community service. We appreciate Bola Taiwo for his magnanimity in investing heavily in the healthcare of his people, and we hope others will emulate this by supporting government efforts to improve lives,” he noted.
Similarly, Comrade Dayo Akinro, President of Araromi-Obu Youth, praised Taiwo for his exemplary leadership and dedication to youth development. He recalled that through his philanthropy, the community’s youth recently received a brand new Sienna vehicle.
“Bola Taiwo remains a reference point of capacity, compassion, and service. We pray for his long life, sound health, and continued impact on our people,” he added.
The event was witnessed by hospital staff, community leaders, and residents, who lauded the donation as a significant contribution towards strengthening healthcare delivery in Araromi-Obu and beyond.
