Dabiri-Erewa Hails Gbemi Disu’s Appointment to Strategic Role at WorldQuant University

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has lauded the appointment of Nigerian-born Gbemi Disu as the Senior Vice President, Global Partner Development at WorldQuant University (WQU), describing it as a significant milestone for the Nigerian Diaspora community.

In a statement released in Abuja by NiDCOM’s spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa said Disu’s elevation is a clear reflection of the global impact Nigerians are making across sectors and continents.

She noted that Disu’s new role goes beyond personal advancement, positioning her as a strategic link for educational innovation and global collaboration, especially in data, technology, and other quantitative disciplines.

“Her appointment is a valuable opportunity for cross-border knowledge exchange and talent development,” Dabiri-Erewa said, adding that it aligns closely with NiDCOM’s goal of harnessing Diaspora expertise for national growth.

Disu’s professional background cuts across higher education, financial services, and energy sectors, with work experience in North America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Dabiri-Erewa believes such a diverse profile will help open up new channels of collaboration between WQU and Nigerian institutions.

She also encouraged Nigerian scholars, innovators, and development partners to explore opportunities with WQU through Disu’s office as the university expands its global reach.

“This appointment is not just a personal victory for Gbemi Disu but a collective win for the Nigerian Diaspora,” she added.

Dabiri-Erewa concluded by expressing NiDCOM’s readiness to work closely with Disu and WorldQuant University in creating access for more Nigerians to participate and thrive on the global academic and professional stage.
