Defence Headquarters Workshop Focuses on Enhancing Psychological Operations in Joint Military Efforts

A workshop dedicated to “Optimizing Psychological Operations in Joint Military Environments” was convened by the Defence Headquarters’ influence operations department.

General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, stated in his address that the workshop’s objectives included improving interagency operations in response to the evolving security threats within Nigeria’s intricate security and political landscape.

Key participants in the workshop, including the Chief of Defence Intelligence (represented), Director of Operations Air Vice Marshal Precious Amadi, Director General of FRCN Dr. Mohammed Bulama, and keynote speaker Major General Letam Wiwa (retired), highlighted the vital role of Psychological Operations (PSYOP) in contemporary military campaigns. They noted that PSYOP influences target audiences to accomplish strategic goals. They also advised that to maximize the effectiveness of PSYOP in a joint military setting, it’s crucial to establish clear, measurable objectives that align with the overall mission goals.

The workshop is scheduled to span two days, featuring discussions on topics such as technological integration through Artificial Intelligence (AI), cultural competence, and ongoing evaluation.
