
Edo State’s Nollywood star, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, has been appointed Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy by Governor Monday Okpebholo.
In a statement on Instagram, Johnson-Okojie described the role as a “call to serve, connect, listen, and advocate with purpose.” She pledged to carry out her duties with humility, dedication, and a strong commitment to advancing the governor’s SHINE Agenda.
The actress highlighted her focus on deepening civic engagement, building public trust, and promoting people-centred governance, emphasizing the importance of amplifying citizens’ voices and encouraging active participation in decision making.
“I am deeply honoured and sincerely grateful to His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, for the trust placed in me. This appointment is not just a call to serve, it is a call to connect, listen, and advocate with purpose,” Johnson-Okojie said.

She added, “To the people of Edo State: this role is about you, your voices, your stories, and your participation in governance. Together, we will strengthen civic engagement and advance a people-centred Edo State where every voice counts.”
