fficers from the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 17 individuals suspected of internet fraud. The arrests were made during carefully planned sting operations conducted across Ilorin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas within the state.
The suspects were taken into custody at locations including Asa Dam, the vicinity of Al-Hikmah University, and Gaa-Odota in Ilorin, as well as Ganmo and Amoyo in the Ifelodun Local Government Area.
These arrests, which occurred on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, were the result of credible intelligence linking the suspects to fraudulent online activities within the state.
Following their arrest, authorities recovered various items, including three luxury vehicles, advanced mobile phones, and laptop computers.
This recent operation follows a previous one last week, where 47 suspects were also apprehended in Ilorin and Ifelodun LGA based on intelligence that revealed their involvement in fraudulent internet schemes.
