FCTA Seals Access Bank, Total Filling Station Over Ground Rent Default

ABUJA — The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday sealed an Access Bank branch and a Total filling station in the Wuse area of Abuja over non-payment of ground rent.

Officials from the FCTA Department of Development Control and the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) led the enforcement operation as part of a renewed drive to recover over ₦6.97 billion owed by property owners in the territory.

The action follows the recent revocation of 4,794 land titles by the FCTA for similar offences, signaling a tough stance by the administration on defaulting land allottees.

A senior FCTA official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the move was necessary to compel compliance and restore sanity to land administration in the nation’s capital.

“We’ve issued several reminders and warnings to defaulters. This is just the beginning; more enforcement actions will follow,” the official added.

The affected facilities will remain sealed until all outstanding debts are cleared.
