FG Declares June 12 Public Holiday for Democracy Day

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, June 12, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

This was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Nigerians on the milestone of 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in the country.

Describing June 12 as a significant symbol of the nation’s commitment to truth, justice, peace, and renewed hope, Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to deepening democratic ideals guided by the will of the people.

The Minister urged Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifices made by heroes of democracy and to remain steadfast in the collective effort to build a greater nation.
