FUTA Commends JAMB Registrar, Professor Oloyede, for Transparency and Leadership Amid 2025 UTME Glitches

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has lauded the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, for his transparency, accountability, and responsive leadership in addressing the technical glitches that marred the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In an official letter addressed to Professor Oloyede and personally signed by the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Adenike Oladiji, the university expressed admiration for the Registrar’s openness in acknowledging the issues and for promptly initiating measures to correct them, including the rescheduling of exams for affected candidates.

“The candour displayed by the Registrar in taking responsibility for the inadvertent glitches and the swift action to mitigate their impact by allowing affected candidates to retake the examination are hallmarks of sound leadership, accountability, and good governance,” the statement read.

FUTA emphasized that no system is infallible, adding that what distinguishes a progressive institution is the ability to periodically evaluate and fine-tune processes to improve service delivery. The university commended JAMB’s proactive internal mechanism, which was immediately activated to address the situation under the direct supervision of Professor Oloyede.

“We hold and believe that no system is perfect and that periodic reevaluation and fine-tuning are key parameters for ensuring better and more effective service delivery on core mandates. That JAMB has such mechanisms in place—and that they are being led from the top by its Chief Executive—is a clear indication of the organization’s solid governance structure,” the letter stated.

FUTA’s acknowledgment comes amid widespread public reactions to the hitches experienced during the conduct of the 2025 UTME. While many have expressed concerns over the disruptions, FUTA’s commendation adds a balanced perspective, recognizing leadership integrity and institutional responsibility in times of operational setbacks.
