FUTA Expands Greenhouse Project with Locally-Sourced Prototype – VC Oladiji Visits Site

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Oladiji, has expressed satisfaction with ongoing efforts to expand the institution’s Greenhouse Project through innovative, locally-driven solutions.

During her visit to the project site, Professor Oladiji inspected a newly developed prototype greenhouse constructed entirely from locally sourced materials. The model, part of FUTA’s broader drive to promote sustainable agriculture, is expected to boost food production and research capacity within the university and beyond.

Project coordinators revealed that the initiative is not limited to the academic community. Members of the public with interest in greenhouse farming will be given opportunities to benefit from the locally made structures and access hands-on training on greenhouse technology and operations.

The development aligns with FUTA’s Town and Gown philosophy, strengthening the link between academic research and societal development while encouraging self-reliance in food production.
