In a decisive move to uplift young scholars across Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved a ₦1 billion annual bursary for Edo indigenes studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The announcement followed a recent town hall meeting where youth leaders passionately appealed for financial assistance to support students pursuing higher education. Responding to the call, Governor Okpebholo wasted no time in greenlighting what is now one of the state’s largest education-focused interventions.
“This bursary initiative,” he affirmed, “will be disbursed annually to ease the financial burden on students and their families,” reinforcing his administration’s commitment to investing in the future of Edo’s youth.
Governor Okpebholo noted that all applicants will undergo a verification process through their respective Local Government Areas to ensure that only bonafide indigenes benefit.
He underscored the policy’s alignment with his administration’s vision to improve educational access, promote academic excellence, and empower youth to become agents of development in Edo and beyond.
Details on how to apply and the disbursement timeline will be communicated by relevant government authorities in the coming days.
