Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno has commended the Federal Government for its prompt intervention in the security situation in Marte through the deployment of troops and military equipment.

Zulum gave the commendation during a follow-up visit to Marte on Wednesday, five days after the state government facilitated the voluntary resettlement of displaced residents in the community.
The governor said the visit was aimed at assessing the current state of affairs in the town, especially following the attack on a military formation that had earlier led to the displacement of residents.
He noted that socio-economic activities have since resumed, with the returnees expressing satisfaction over the improved security and living conditions.
Zulum interacted with military personnel and local volunteers on the ground and expressed delight at the restoration of normalcy in the area. He also thanked the Federal Government and security agencies for their continued support.
“Marte is a strategic agrarian community on the fringes of Lake Chad. The return of its people is vital to reviving agricultural activities and ensuring food security in the region,” the governor said.
The Borno State Government has continued to prioritize safe and voluntary resettlement of internally displaced persons, with a focus on restoring peace and sustainable development across affected communities.
