Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting state-owned tertiary institutions and improving infrastructure in host communities.
Speaking on Tuesday at the governor’s office in Akure during a courtesy visit by the Alale of Akungba, Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu, and other community leaders, Aiyedatiwa promised that critical projects in education, infrastructure, and security would be prioritized.
The governor said his administration is determined to ensure universities, polytechnics, and other tertiary institutions receive adequate funding to maintain quality education and operational efficiency. He noted that while state resources are limited, urgent and critical needs remain a top priority.
“Everybody is asking for more. Universities, ministries, workers, and communities all have legitimate demands that require careful balancing,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa added that measures are being implemented to plug financial leakages and improve revenue generation, ensuring more funds are available for development, particularly in education, emphasizing Ondo State’s reputation for educational excellence.
On infrastructure, the governor highlighted ongoing projects, including the multi-billion-naira Akungba–Ikare road dualisation, which he described as crucial for economic growth, road safety, and the welfare of the university community. He also assured that Atiba Market would be relocated and rehabilitated into a modern facility serving the wider community.
On security, the governor assured residents that steps had been taken to sustain peace in Akungba, promising continued attention to safety in the area.
Earlier, Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu commended the governor for the administration’s impactful interventions in Akungba, including the road project, Okusa Basic Health Centre, and Atiba Market. The monarch urged greater inclusion of qualified sons and daughters of Akungba in state civil service positions and called for enhanced funding and oversight for Adekunle Ajasin University to support the introduction of new professional courses.
Oba Oseni Adu also expressed appreciation for the provision of modern vehicles to traditional rulers across the state, describing it as a clear demonstration of government support for local leadership.
