Governor Oyebanji Urges Police to Deploy More Personnel to Ekiti

…Urges Fortification of State Borders

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to increase its personnel presence in the state, particularly in border communities, as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities.

The governor made this request during a meeting with the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 17, Mr. Abiodun Asabi, who paid him a courtesy visit in Ado-Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between the state and federal security agencies, noting that additional manpower would significantly boost the state’s security architecture.

“We are a border state, and a lot of the criminal elements come into Ekiti through those areas. That is why we will continue to ask for more men. Our people are willing to support and collaborate with the police to ensure we have peace and safety,” he said.

He commended the Ekiti State Police Command for its proactive approach to maintaining law and order and pledged continued support from the state government to the Force.

Earlier, AIG Abiodun Asabi expressed the commitment of the police to work with state governments to achieve lasting peace and security.
