The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has dismissed reports circulating on some online platforms alleging a covert plan to unlawfully extend the tenure of Mr. Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, the Permanent Secretary representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Eno Olotu, the OHCSF described the reports as baseless and misleading, clarifying that there is no plan—by either the Ministers of Defence or the Head of the Civil Service—to grant any form of tenure elongation to Mr. Aduda or any other Permanent Secretary.
“The process for retirement or tenure decisions for Permanent Secretaries strictly follows the Public Service Rules and must receive the necessary approvals,” the statement read, stressing that the Civil Service remains guided by due process, transparency, and the rule of law.
The Head of Service, Dr. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, also weighed in, affirming her commitment to merit-driven leadership and ethical governance. “Transparency and integrity remain the foundation of my leadership, ensuring continued public trust in the Civil Service,” she stated.
The OHCSF urged members of the public to disregard such reports and avoid spreading unverified claims capable of generating unwarranted tension or eroding confidence in the civil service system.
