Huawei Nigeria has introduced its latest data storage solution, the New-Gen OceanStor Dorado Converged All-Flash Storage.
This new offering is designed to assist Nigerian businesses in managing expanding data needs and adopting artificial intelligence technologies.
The announcement was made in a statement by Huawei, dated May 7, and made available to PUNCH Online on Monday.
The product was showcased at Huawei Day Nigeria 2025. During the event, Naveen Kumar, Huawei’s Technical Director of the Advanced Solution Group, stated that the storage system is engineered to support crucial applications in the age of AI.
“With AI models and digital transformation growing fast in Nigeria, data is increasing at an incredible rate. This new solution is built to handle that,” Kumar explained.
Kumar highlighted three key features of the OceanStor Dorado. These include support for diverse data formats, such as block, file, and object storage, robust protection against system failures and ransomware attacks, and straightforward upgrades from older systems.
Regarding performance, Kumar noted, “Its multi-protocol design means it can support various data services on a single system, making management simpler and more efficient.
“The system also comes with high resilience. Even if most parts of the system fail, services won’t be interrupted. It can survive the failure of seven out of eight controller enclosures without affecting performance.”
To address cybersecurity concerns, particularly ransomware, Kumar said the new storage system can identify such threats with up to 99.99% accuracy. He also emphasized that it ensures complete data recovery through advanced snapshot technology.
Kumar added that the OceanStor Dorado utilizes AI tools to automate complex tasks like fault detection and network diagnosis, thereby simplifying data center operations for businesses.
“Another major benefit is its upgrade flexibility. Businesses using older versions can easily switch to the new one without having to scrap their existing systems.
“Huawei’s storage solutions are already used in industries like finance, education, manufacturing, and healthcare, across more than 150 countries. According to the company, 53 of the world’s top 100 banks are among its clients,” he concluded.
With this launch, Huawei aims to support Nigeria’s progression towards a digitally advanced and AI-driven future.
