Manchester City have struck a €55 million (£46.3 million) agreement with AC Milan to sign Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, in a move aimed at bolstering their midfield ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
The 26-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions and is expected to sign a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium. The transfer, which remains subject to a medical, also includes performance-based add-ons.
City are working to finalise the deal in time for Reijnders to feature in the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14 in the United States with 32 teams in contention.
The Dutch international’s arrival comes as a much-needed reinforcement for Pep Guardiola’s side, following the injury setback to Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian midfielder has been ruled out of the tournament after undergoing surgery on his Achilles tendon.
In another major development, City could also be without influential playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, whose potential switch to Serie A champions Napoli is gaining momentum and may be finalised in the coming days.
Reijnders joined AC Milan from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 and quickly established himself as a key figure in the Rossoneri midfield. His versatility and composure on the ball are expected to offer City added depth and tactical flexibility.
