
The Nigerian Army, on Sunday, held the grand finale of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) at Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna, rounding off a week-long series of events to commemorate its 162nd anniversary.
The event featured a well-choreographed military parade, a combat demonstration, and a static equipment display from the Army’s Research and Development units. Officers and guests were also treated to a ceremonial file past, as well as the presentation of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Commendation Awards to deserving personnel.

Toyota Hilux vehicles were also handed over to selected Warrant Officers in recognition of their service and dedication.

President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, served as the Special Guest of Honour. Other prominent figures at the event included former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon; Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani; representatives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives; Ministers of Defence; Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; as well as other serving and former military chiefs.

Activities leading to the finale included religious services, commissioning of civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) projects across the country, a COAS media briefing, a lecture series, and a gala night aimed at celebrating the Army’s legacy and reinforcing civil-military relations.

NADCEL is celebrated annually to honour the founding of the Nigerian Army and highlight its role in national security, unity, and development.
