In a decisive move to secure the region ahead of Eid celebrations, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully disrupted planned attacks by terrorist elements in Borno State.
On the 5th and 6th of June 2025, under the ongoing Operation HADIN KAI, NAF launched precision airstrikes on Boko Haram hideouts located at Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State.
According to a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the airstrikes were conducted following credible intelligence reports indicating that these terrorist camps were being used for storage and coordination of attacks intended to undermine the upcoming Eid festivities.
The airstrikes inflicted heavy damage, destroying critical logistics and communication infrastructure within the camps. Battle Damage Assessments confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists, significantly degrading their operational capabilities in the area.
This pre-emptive strike reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting civilians and advancing national security goals amidst ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the northeast.
