NAFDAC Slams VeryDarkMan Over Viral Video, Tags It Inciting and Misleading

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has fired back at popular social media influencer, VeryDarkMan (Martins Otse), over a viral video it described as inciting and potentially in breach of the Cybercrime Act.

In the controversial video, the influencer alleged that NAFDAC extorted N700,000 from traders at the Bridge Head Market in Onitsha — a claim the agency has flatly denied.

NAFDAC insisted its enforcement operations were aimed strictly at flushing out fake, banned, and substandard drugs. It said over 2,500 traders who complied with safety standards have since resumed business since March 9, while shops still under lock and key are allegedly tied to banned narcotics.

The agency vowed to continue prosecuting offenders, warning that it won’t be distracted by “baseless accusations.”
