The Nigerian military says it has apprehended suspects connected to the abduction of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Area Commander in Anambra State.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Abuja. He revealed that troops under Operation UDO KA effected the arrest during a series of coordinated operations targeting criminal elements in the region.
The clampdown, he said, is part of wider efforts to dismantle terror and kidnapping networks across the country.
In a related development, defence correspondent Ismail Musa reports that eleven other suspects—allegedly serving as logistics suppliers and collaborators—were arrested in separate operations in Borno and Yobe States.
Between April and June 2025, the military says it apprehended no fewer than 1,991 individuals, while 682 terrorists and their families surrendered to security forces. Also, 174 illegal oil refining sites were destroyed during this period.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation Delta Safe foiled oil theft activities estimated at over N3 billion, signalling intensified efforts against crude oil sabotage and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region.
