The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has described the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari as the end of an era defined by integrity, discipline, and selfless service to the nation.
Dabiri-Erewa, in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja through the Commission’s media aide, Mr. Gabriel Odu, expressed her condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and Nigerians across the globe.
The former presidential aide noted that Buhari’s legacy extended beyond Nigeria’s borders, citing his administration’s foreign policy efforts and recognition of the Nigerian Diaspora as key partners in development.
She pointed to the establishment of NiDCOM in 2019 under Buhari’s leadership as a clear indication of his commitment to harnessing the potential of Nigerians abroad.
“President Buhari believed in the capacity of the Nigerian Diaspora to drive national progress. His support for the establishment of NiDCOM was a bold step in that direction,” she said.
While mourning the loss, Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians to uphold the values Buhari stood for, including patriotism, discipline, and national unity.
She also prayed for God’s comfort upon the family and strength to bear the loss.
