NIGERIAN ARMY WARNS PUBLIC AGAINST FAKE COAS SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS

The Nigerian Army has issued a stern warning to the public against fraudulent social media accounts falsely claiming to represent the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

In a statement released by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army emphasized that the COAS does not operate any personal or official social media accounts. Any online profiles purporting to be the COAS are fake and should be disregarded.

The Army disclosed that these fraudulent accounts are being exploited by unscrupulous individuals to mislead the public, solicit funds, and spread misinformation. Citizens have been urged to exercise caution, refrain from engaging with such accounts, and report suspicious activities immediately.

“The Nigerian Army is actively taking measures to identify and prosecute those behind these impersonations,” the statement added, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its leadership and protecting the public from online scams.
