NO IMPEACHMENT PLOT AGAINST AIYEDATIWA, BUT ONDO SPEAKER OLADIJI MUST GO — 12 LAWMAKERS

Lawmakers warn Speaker against misleading the public

A group of twelve progressive lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly has dismissed claims by Speaker Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji that they are plotting against Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, describing the allegation as misleading and politically motivated.

In a statement, Hon. Barr. Temitope Komolafe, representing Ifedore State Constituency, called the Speaker’s assertion “a deliberate falsehood designed to distract from his record of financial misconduct and legislative mismanagement.”

Komolafe emphasized that Governor Aiyedatiwa has not committed any impeachable offence, and no responsible lawmaker would contemplate such action against a governor whose administration, he said, has brought stability, transparency, and development to Ondo State.

He said the lawmakers’ grievances are directed at the Speaker, whom he accused of self-interest, recklessness, and lack of accountability, describing Oladiji as “a callous politician devoid of conscience and the fear of God.”

The statement listed several issues the Speaker must address:

His alleged loyalty to personal interests rather than the Governor or the people of Ondo State.

The failure to transparently account for the operational costs of the House of Assembly.

Misleading citizens with false financial allegations against the Governor and a failed impeachment attempt that almost destabilized the state.

Komolafe also alleged that the Speaker attempted to compromise him with a financial inducement, which he rejected, and issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the Speaker to publicly account for the alleged bribe.

He criticized Oladiji’s recent claims of loyalty to the Governor as “laughable and insulting to the intelligence of the people,” noting that the same Speaker who tried to destabilize the state now portrays himself as a defender of the administration.

The lawmakers reaffirmed their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, urging the public to disregard the Speaker’s claims, which they described as a distraction from ongoing issues of mismanagement within the Assembly. They reiterated their commitment to defending democracy, transparency, and the interests of Ondo State residents.
