The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) yesterday led a health walk in the nation’s capital to raise awareness about the ongoing Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign.
The march, which started at Unity Fountain and ended at Wuse Market, drew attention to the urgent need to protect children against measles, rubella, and other preventable diseases.

Dr. Garba Ahmed Rufai, NPHCDA’s Director of Disease Control and Immunization, said the exercise is part of a nationwide push across 11 states and the FCT.
“Our target is to vaccinate 106 million Nigerians by the end of February,” Rufai said. “Measles and rubella can cause blindness, deafness, heart defects, and mental impairment. The vaccine is free for all children aged nine months to 14 years. Parents, caregivers, schools, and community leaders must ensure every eligible child is vaccinated.”

The agency urged Nigerians to take advantage of the free immunization to shield children from these life-threatening diseases.
