The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has disbursed over ₦1 billion in compensation to injured workers and families of deceased employees nationwide, boosting household income and injecting fresh liquidity into the economy.
The payments were made under the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS), which provides financial support to workers who suffer injuries, disabilities, or fatal incidents on the job. NSITF said the disbursements reflect its commitment to strengthening social security and protecting the nation’s workforce.
Management explained that the funds have directly benefited thousands of workers through medical reimbursements, disability benefits, death benefits, and rehabilitation programs. The intervention has provided relief to affected families while stimulating economic activity by increasing household purchasing power.
NSITF added that recent organizational reforms aimed at improving service delivery, transparency, and prompt claims processing have significantly boosted public confidence in the ECS.

The Fund reaffirmed its dedication to expanding coverage, raising awareness among employers and employees, and ensuring timely support for Nigeria’s workforce in workplace emergencies.
