ONDO FIRST LADY EMPOWERS 250 PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES WITH N200,000 EACH

Ondo State joined the world in celebrating World Disability Day as the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, empowered 250 persons living with disabilities with N200,000 each under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

The programme, held at the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS), is part of a nationwide effort across 36 states and the FCT Abuja to support disabled persons, including military and police veterans, in recapitalizing their businesses.

Represented by Ondo First Lady, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, Senator Tinubu revealed that 9,500 Nigerians with disabilities will benefit from the initiative, totaling N1.9 billion.

“Today, RHI provides N200,000 grants to 250 persons with disabilities in each state and the FCT to strengthen their businesses and livelihoods,” she said.

Inspiring the beneficiaries, she added:
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

Dr. Seun Osamaye, State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, described the day as historic for Ondo, while Mr. Olusegun Abiodun, Chairman of the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities, promised the funds would be used wisely to grow businesses and improve livelihoods.
