ONDO GOVT BEGINS SELECTION PROCESS FOR NEW OLU-OKE, REVISES TRADITIONAL TITLE IN ILAJE

The Ondo State Government has approved the appointment of warrant chiefs to commence the process of selecting a new Olu-Oke of Okeigbo in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area.

This decision follows a recent court judgment that nullified the appointment of the late Babajide Lawrence Oluwole, who held the stool until his demise.

Speaking to journalists after the State Executive Council meeting in Akure, Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Comrade Bola Taiwo, explained that the move is in line with legal compliance and the state’s commitment to orderly succession within traditional institutions.

In a related development, the Council also approved a change in the title of the Yasere of Ilepete (Ugbo) to Yeyere of Oriretan in Ilaje Local Government Area, after critical consultations and objections raised by community stakeholders.

Comrade Taiwo emphasized that the Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa-led administration remains committed to preserving the integrity of traditional institutions, describing royal fathers as vital partners in governance and community development.
