ONDO LAWMAKERS MOVE TO IMPEACH SPEAKER OLADIJI

Akure – Lawmakers at the Ondo State House of Assembly on Wednesday initiated proceedings to impeach the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, following allegations of financial misconduct.

A resolution signed by twelve members accused Oladiji of diverting ₦50 million allocated for a public hearing and misappropriating the House’s monthly operational funds. The lawmakers described the actions as gross misconduct that undermines the integrity and proper functioning of the Assembly.

The resolution cited breaches of key legal provisions, including the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, and the Criminal Code Act, noting that the Speaker violated his oath of office.

In the resolution, the lawmakers passed a Vote of No Confidence against Oladiji and urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate him, prosecute where necessary, and recover all misappropriated funds.

The motion was formally adopted on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, and signed by the following members:
