The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with two separate incidents of assault and attempted abduction of traffic police officers in Akure, the state capital.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, adding that all suspects linked to the cases have been charged to court for prosecution.
In the first incident, which occurred on April 3, 2026, one Olopade Abraham, who was driving a Toyota vehicle in company of Emmanuel Taiwo, reportedly disobeyed traffic lights at Cathedral Junction, Akure.
A female senior traffic warden, Oliniju Kehinde, attached to ‘A’ Division, Akure, stopped the vehicle and directed the driver to proceed to the station.
However, the driver allegedly refused and drove off with the officer still inside the vehicle.
A patrol team attached to Fanibi Division was said to have pursued and intercepted the vehicle along Ondo Road, where the officer was rescued, while the suspects were arrested.
In a separate incident on April 5, 2026, a police patrol team intercepted a vehicle driving against traffic at the Oba-Ile axis of Akure.

Jimoh said one Mrs. Adeyanju and her husband, who is currently at large, allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer during the encounter.
He added that Mrs. Adeyanju was arrested and taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend her fleeing husband.
The Command confirmed that all suspects have been charged to court for prosecution.
