No fewer than 71,110 primary school pupils took part in the 2025 Common Entrance Examination conducted across Ondo State on Saturday.
The examination, which serves as a gateway into state-owned secondary schools, held simultaneously in 280 designated centres across all 18 local government areas of the state.
Officials from the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology monitored the exercise in various locations, with the Administrative Secretary, Dr Akindele Ige, leading a team to several centres in Akure and its environs.
Speaking with journalists after the monitoring exercise, Ige described the conduct of the examination as smooth and devoid of hitches. He said there were no reported cases of delayed exam materials or shortage of invigilators at any of the centres.

“The turnout was encouraging. Candidates conducted themselves well, and the entire process was peaceful,” he said.
He commended the Examination Management Department for the logistics and coordination, and also lauded parents and guardians for their cooperation and orderly behaviour throughout the process.
The Common Entrance Examination is an annual assessment organised by the state government to facilitate placement into junior secondary schools, and it also serves as a prerequisite for obtaining the Primary School Leaving Certificate.
