ONDO SECURITY NON-NEGOTIABLE, GOV AIYEDATIWA DECLARES AS AMOTEKUN INDUCTS 500 OPERATIVES

Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Wednesday reaffirmed that security is central to Ondo State’s development, warning that no society can thrive in fear, and no economy prospers where lives and property are at risk.

The governor spoke during the passing-out parade of Batch 05 (BR05) of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, at the historic parade ground of the State House of Assembly Arcade Complex in Akure.

Describing the ceremony as historic and strategic, Aiyedatiwa said the event underscores his administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s security framework. He noted that the new operatives, who underwent rigorous training, are now “guardians of the homeland” and “ambassadors of lawful authority.”

“Our decision to invest in Amotekun is guided by strategic foresight, not politics or sentiment,” he said. “The corps is community-rooted, intelligence-driven, law-guided, and constitutionally aligned, complementing federal security agencies while responding swiftly to local realities.”

The governor highlighted that BR05 represents not just an increase in manpower but an upgrade in capability, stressing that the operatives were trained in physical endurance, tactical field operations, intelligence gathering, civil-military relations, rules of engagement, human rights, and Omoluabi values.

“The strength of Amotekun lies in professional restraint, intelligence-led operations, and community trust, not brute force,” he said, urging the corps to act with integrity, courage tempered by compassion, and vigilance without intimidation.

Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, also warned the new recruits that they are agents of the law, not above it. He emphasized that Amotekun complements existing security agencies, tackling challenges from banditry and kidnapping to communal clashes.

“The image of Amotekun will be defined daily by your conduct in communities, highways, farms, and forests,” Adeleye said, adding that any act of corruption or collusion with criminals will attract strict sanctions.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assured that his administration would continue to enhance the welfare, training, and operational support of the corps, noting that farmers, traders, commuters, students, and families across the state are counting on their service.
