A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a prominent youth advocate in Ondo South Senatorial District, Niyi Arogbo, has accused Senator Jimoh Ibrahim of failing to meet the expectations of his constituents, describing the lawmaker’s recent media engagement as an “empty response” lacking substance.
Arogbo’s critique followed Senator Ibrahim’s televised appearance, where the legislator attempted to counter accusations of poor performance. According to Arogbo, rather than offering concrete evidence of constituency development or impactful representation, the senator resorted to evasive rhetoric and self-promotion.
“Ondo South is not short of intelligent and principled people,” Arogbo said. “We believed Senator Ibrahim’s background in business would translate into transformative leadership, but that hope has unfortunately been dashed.”
He alleged that since his election, Senator Ibrahim has focused more on public speaking engagements in the Senate and overseas travels than on grassroots development. Arogbo decried the senator’s constituency project model, describing the distribution of ₦200,000 to a handful of beneficiaries as grossly inadequate.

“Our people need critical infrastructure, opportunities for young people, improved healthcare, and educational advancement—not token cash handouts branded as empowerment,” he stated.
Drawing comparisons with other senators, Arogbo argued that Ondo South lags in visibility and legislative impact, further fueling disillusionment among voters. He said the district deserves a representative who is grounded in the realities of his people and committed to meaningful progress.
With murmurs of Senator Ibrahim considering a second term, Arogbo posed a pointed question: “What legacy has he built in the past two years to justify re-election?”
He emphasized that his criticism is not personal but a call for accountability and genuine service delivery.
“Our future demands responsible leadership, and until we see tangible results, we will continue to speak out. Ondo South deserves better,” he said.
As the 2027 elections begin to take shape, the battle for the soul of Ondo South is clearly gaining momentum, with increasing pressure on elected officials to back their words with visible action.
