Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – In a symbolic and historic gesture that underscored unity, tradition, and national reverence, the Ọọni of Ifẹ, His Imperial Majesty Ọba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and his wife, Olori Ẹbunọla Ogunwusi, paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria’s former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, at his Yenagoa residence on Saturday.
During the royal visit, the Ọọni presented sacred bronze artifacts from the ancient city of Ifẹ to Dr. Jonathan, describing the former president as “a divine gift to humanity.” The monarch noted that the artifacts symbolize peace, wisdom, and leadership—qualities he believes Dr. Jonathan has exemplified in his years of public service and post-presidency diplomacy.

“The Ifẹ bronze represents our rich heritage and the enduring values of leadership, peace, and unity. Dr. Jonathan, you are a beacon of these values—a man of peace, a rare leader, and a divine gift to humanity,” Ọọni Ogunwusi said while making the presentation.
Dr. Jonathan, visibly touched by the honor, expressed gratitude for the royal visit, describing it as a profound moment of cultural significance and personal inspiration. He commended the Ọọni for his relentless advocacy for national cohesion and cultural renaissance.

The visit, which drew admiration from traditional leaders and political stakeholders, is seen as a unifying symbol of respect across Nigeria’s diverse cultural landscape.
