It was a blend of joy, nostalgia, and admiration as the Director of Nursing Services at the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mrs. Ayodele Daodu, bowed out of active service in the Ondo State Government after over three decades of dedicated service to the state’s health sector.
The colourful pen-down ceremony, held at the E. O. C Hall at the agency headquarters in Akure, drew notable figures from the nursing profession, senior officials from the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Hospital Management Board, associates, and family members. The ceremony featured goodwill messages, emotional tributes, and a special rendition by her professional colleagues in honour of a career marked by diligence, compassion, and leadership.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Francis Adegoke Akanbiemu, represented by the Director of Immunization and Disease Control, Dr. Victor Adefisoye, who presided over the ceremony, eulogized Mrs. Daodu for her commitment to service and her contributions to primary health care development in the state.
“Mrs. Daodu’s leadership in the nursing department has been exemplary. She brought integrity, dedication, and professionalism into the system. Her mentorship and guidance have produced several competent nursing officers,” Dr. Adefisoye said.
He noted that her efforts greatly improved maternal and child health services, strengthened community-based health programs, and enhanced the overall quality of care at the grassroots.
Colleagues described Mrs. Daodu as a compassionate administrator and a mother figure to many, known for her humility, work ethics, and drive for excellence in service delivery.
In her remarks, the visibly moved retiree expressed deep gratitude to God for a fulfilling career, appreciating the management and staff of OSPHCDA, as well as the nursing community in Ondo State, for their cooperation and friendship throughout her service years.

“It has been a journey of growth and grace. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve my people through nursing. Every moment spent in the service of humanity is worth it,” she said.
Born and raised in Ondo State, Mrs. Daodu began her nursing career and steadily rose through the ranks, holding various leadership roles before her appointment as Director of Nursing Services at OSPHCDA. Her tenure was marked by a strong emphasis on capacity building, professional ethics, and teamwork within the nursing cadre.
