In a vibrant celebration of dedication, impact, and service to the reproductive health space in Ondo State, the Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit of the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency today honoured three outstanding health professionals with special awards for their exceptional contributions to family planning (FP) services.
Mrs. Rosemary Adegbulu, former Program Officer of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit, was honoured with the Distinguished Leadership Award. Adegbulu, who served as the Program Officer for the SRH Unit, was celebrated for her pioneering role, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing reproductive health services during her tenure as State Family Planning Coordinator.
The well-attended ceremony, held at the E.O.C. Hall of the Agency, brought together key players in the family planning sector and development partners.

Similarly, two retired Family Planning Coordinators — Mrs. Sola Taiwo Fadamitan (Ile-Oluji LGA) and Mrs. Doris Olamitoro Adegbemigbe (Ondo East LGA) — received Awards of Recognition for their outstanding grassroots-level engagement and achievements in promoting access to family planning services.
Delivering a heartfelt tribute, the current State Family Planning Coordinator, Mrs. Opeyemi E. Agunbiade, lauded the remarkable legacy left by Mrs. Adegbulu. She described her as a trailblazer whose administrative excellence, passion for reproductive health, and tireless efforts in advancing family planning programs helped lay a solid foundation for the unit’s current success.
“Mrs. Adegbulu set a standard in leadership that continues to guide and inspire our work. Her foresight, commitment, and nurturing mentorship created a culture of excellence within the unit. Today, we celebrate not just her past achievements but the enduring impact of her service,” Agunbiade remarked.

Agunbiade further acknowledged the supportive and proactive roles played by Mrs. Fadamitan and Mrs. Adegbemigbe in strengthening family planning initiatives in their respective local government areas until their retirement from the civil service. She encouraged them to continue mentoring the younger workforce while fostering innovations that would further enhance access to family planning and reproductive health services across the state.
In his remarks, Dr. Francis Akanbiemu, Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, represented by the Director of Nursing Services, Mrs. Daodu, applauded the awardees, describing them as “worthy ambassadors of the Agency.” She commended their work ethic, noting that their contributions have not only strengthened health systems at the grassroots level but also elevated the state’s profile in national and donor-supported health programs.
“These women exemplify integrity, diligence, and passion for improving lives. Their service has left indelible marks on the Agency and the communities they served. They are not just award recipients; they are torchbearers in the public health space,” Mrs. Daodu said.

Representing the awardees, Mrs. Akinoso Abimbola, who stood in for Mrs. Adegbulu, expressed gratitude to the SRH Unit and the Agency’s leadership for the honour, promising that the recipients would remain open to mentoring even in retirement.
In attendance were FP providers from the 18 LGAs, State Mobilization Officers (SMOs), the State Health Education Officer — Mr. Kehinde Olomiye, representatives from MSI Reproductive Choices, and other stakeholders described the celebration as both “emotional and inspiring,” symbolizing the importance of recognizing the often-overlooked efforts of public health professionals.
Congratulations on Your Retirement!
