Former governor and prominent Nigerian politician Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has dismissed recent reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu asked him to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Kwankwaso purportedly responding that he would rather quit politics than return to the party.
In a statement personally authored by Kwankwaso, he said the reports are “false, unfounded, and products of political mischief.”
“My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly stating my position on the recurring political realignments in Nigeria,” Kwankwaso said. “I wish to categorically state that such statements are false, unfounded, and products of political mischief.”
He further reiterated his decision to stay away from commenting on ongoing political developments.
“I have refrained from commenting on contemporary political events and I will continue to do so for the time being,” he added. “In this regard, I urge the public to only engage statements that come from my public handles and other official sources.”
The clarification comes amid increasing speculation and political realignments in Nigeria, where rumors about prominent politicians switching allegiances have been widespread.
Kwankwaso’s denial highlights the need for caution in interpreting political news and stresses the importance of relying on verified and official communications.
