Reps Committee Commends Aiyedatiwa Over FUTA Teaching Hospital

— Governor pledges unwavering support for improved healthcare delivery

The House of Representatives Committee on Federal Health Institutions has lauded the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his administration’s active support toward the take-off of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital.

During an oversight visit to the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure, on Sunday, the committee — led by its chairman, Hon. Patrick Umoh — received assurances from the governor on the state’s commitment to the health project.

Governor Aiyedatiwa disclosed that the state has ceded one of its specialist hospitals to serve as a temporary facility for the teaching hospital, while land has also been allocated for its permanent site.

Reiterating his administration’s dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery, the governor assured the committee of his readiness to offer all necessary support for the successful take-off of the federal health institution.

He said, “The feedback from this oversight function will not only benefit the federal and state governments but also health professionals and the people of Ondo State.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence that the lawmakers’ visit would help identify challenges facing federal health institutions in the state, with the aim of addressing them through better collaboration.

In his remarks, Hon. Umoh said the visit formed part of the committee’s nationwide tour of federal health institutions as mandated by the National Assembly.

He urged the state government to continue to provide an enabling environment for the smooth commencement of the FUTA Teaching Hospital.

The committee chairman stressed that the project aligns with efforts to stabilize the country’s health system, saying, “We are counting on your cooperation and support to see that this critical project comes to life. Your input will be vital in driving the federal government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery across the nation.”
