Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has appealed to the Federal Government to lift the ‘wanted’ status placed on him, expressing readiness to support ongoing efforts aimed at curbing insecurity in the South-West region.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Igboho said he was prepared to work with the authorities in tackling the rising spate of kidnappings, banditry, and other criminal activities threatening the peace of Yoruba-speaking states.
“I am ready to support the government in securing the South-West. I’m pleading with the Federal Government to clear the ‘wanted’ tag on me so I can return home and assist in protecting our people,” he said.
Igboho fled Nigeria in 2021 after security operatives raided his Ibadan residence, accusing him of inciting violence and stockpiling weapons. He was later arrested in the Benin Republic while attempting to travel to Germany, sparking widespread condemnation and calls for his release.
Since his release from detention in Cotonou, the self-acclaimed freedom fighter has continued to advocate for the rights and safety of Yoruba people.
He also used the opportunity to call for unity among Yoruba leaders, stressing that his actions were never intended to destabilize the country but to defend his people from attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Government had yet to issue an official response to Igboho’s latest plea.
