Three Kebbi Senators Switch Allegiance, Join APC After Meeting Tinubu

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered yet another blow as three sitting senators from Kebbi State have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The trio—Senators Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South)—met with President Bola Tinubu on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where they announced their decision.

They were accompanied by the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who led them to the meeting. Also present were Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris; Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu; and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu.

The move, considered a significant political shift in Kebbi, comes amid broader realignments within Nigeria’s political terrain. Observers believe the development will reinforce the APC’s presence both in Kebbi State and at the national level as the party positions itself for upcoming legislative and executive agendas.
