UZODIMMA APPROVES N104,000 MINIMUM WAGE, DOCTORS’ SALARY NOW N582,000

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Tuesday unveiled a new wage structure for workers in the state, pegging the minimum wage at N104,000.

The governor made the pronouncement while addressing labour representatives at the Government House in Owerri, stressing that the decision was informed by improved federal allocation and higher internally generated revenue.

Under the new arrangement, doctors in the state civil service are expected to take home N582,000 as monthly salary.

Uzodimma maintained that the increment was designed to strengthen the purchasing power of civil servants and energise the state’s economy.

In addition, the governor disclosed that N16 billion had been earmarked to clear outstanding gratuities owed to pensioners in the state.
