The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed the appointment of 1,659 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The confirmed workers were among 2,281 candidates who sat for the FCT Civil Service Commission’s confirmation examination held on February 28, 2026. The exercise, according to the Commission, aimed to verify the authenticity of employees and weed out ghost workers.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed that some of the staff had been employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others were recruited shortly before Wike assumed office in August 2023. He noted that 2,512 candidates were invited for the examination, but 224 failed to show up, raising concerns over potential ghost employment.

The Commission has also announced plans to carry out the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises for FCTA staff, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to rejuvenate the FCTA workforce.
Candidates can check the status of their confirmation on the Commission’s official website at fctcsc.abj.gov.ng.
