FG Offers Free Tuition, Feeding, Accommodation, and ₦22,500 Monthly Stipend to Technical College Students

The Federal Government has announced a comprehensive support package for students in federal and state technical colleges, offering free tuition, accommodation, feeding, and a monthly stipend of ₦22,500.

This was revealed in Abuja during the launch of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) reform programme by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu.

According to Sununu, the initiative aims to make technical and vocational education more accessible and attractive to young Nigerians, while reducing economic barriers that often hinder enrollment.

“This intervention covers the full cost of tuition, accommodation, and feeding, in addition to a ₦22,500 monthly stipend to support students’ basic needs,” the minister said.

Also speaking, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tahir Mamman, stated that the programme is aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which targets the training of five million youths in market-relevant and income-generating skills by 2030.

He emphasized the importance of building a skilled workforce to address unemployment and drive economic transformation through innovation and enterprise.

Registration for the programme will be done via the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) portal. Further details on eligibility and application procedures are expected in the coming weeks.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a bold step towards revamping technical education and empowering Nigeria’s next generation of skilled professionals.
